If your hips are small relative to your upper half, then pants may well suit you more than skirts and dresses? But if you are a pear-shaped beauty, then don't shy away from pants and hide in full skirts! There is no need to put up with pants that unintentionally look like hipsters. Some of the plus size suppliers do pants that accommodate your shape properly.

It's hard to give any advice that is not too generalising. Perhaps a contrast between black pants and a pale top, is a popular and very good approach. For fit, the size of ladies' thighs can vary with a given hips measurement. For larger thighs, boot-cut and flared pants might be too tight around the thighs. For larger hips with not so large thighs (that might sound odd, but it's a true observation!), one's choice of cuts and styles is better.
